Francesca Hales

As an aspiring community-based urban planner, she is interested in diverse topics including participatory processes, nature-based solutions, environmental justice, housing, and mobility. She has pursued these interests as the Research and Advocacy Coordinator for HOME, Georgetown’s housing justice organization, and as an intern for Sur-Urbano, a podcast that explores urbanism across Latin America.

Through the Scholars Program, she is eager to join an intellectual community and enter into dialogue with other students about pressing urban issues. In the Fall 2024 semester, she is excited to be studying abroad at Universidad Complutense in Madrid, taking planning courses and enriching her understanding of the discipline through a new international lens.
