Place Management Through Multi-Sector Partnerships

In the fall of 2023, the Georgetown Global Cities Initiative, in partnership with the UN-Habitat’s Urban Thinkers Campus, hosted a series of ten roundtable conversations titled “International Practices of Place Management through Multisectoral Partnerships.” Throughout our event series, we engaged with place management practitioners and experts from cities like Johannesburg, Doha, and New York City, gaining insights into the unique practices tailored to each locale’s sociocultural context, governance structures, and fiscal landscapes. Our series not only explored different practices of place management around the world but also highlighted how multisectoral partnerships between the public and private sectors empower community voices and build capacity for place management entities. The discussions delved into diverse models and place-based approaches to issues such as homelessness, public realm management, economic development and inclusive cultural development.

GGCI would like to extend a special thank you to all of our global partners who advanced this dialogue with us.
