Open Call for Applications: 2022-23 Student Scholars Program
The 2022-23 Student Scholars Program aims to create a community of practice of urban researchers at Georgetown University, promoting interdisciplinary, geographically diverse, and impactful knowledge generation on global urbanization. Its main objectives are to provide research support for students, to generate professional, academic, and social networks, and to help scholars to advance their career goals.

Activities
Activities include bi-monthly dinners with guest speakers, research mentoring, participation in special GGCI events, workshops, and seminars plus many other social, academic, and professional activities. Scholars may be offered the possibility to support faculty members in GGCI-sponsored research projects as RAs. Scholars are encouraged to present their research at the Georgetown Global Cities Initiative Student Research Summit hosted every spring.
Schedule
The year-long program starts in October 2022 and ends in April 2023 with dedicated convenings. Scholars participate in 3 thematic bi-monthly research coordination meetings where they share working presentations with specially invited guest speakers in November, January, and March.
How to Apply
You must be an enrolled graduate or undergraduate student in any Georgetown University school or department and submit your application through the online submission form. All applicants submit a working proposal for the subjects they will concentrate on. Research projects should explore interdisciplinary urban challenges and relate directly to class assignments, other external engagements, or thesis/dissertation projects. Applicants will also submit their resumes and personal statement.

FAQ
What is the time commitment?
The Program includes 5 two-hour meetings over the course of the year in addition to the Student Research Summit.
Compensation?
Students participate in the program on an ad-honorem basis. Paid research assistant positions and small research grants may be made available to Scholars.
How many students will be selected?
The cohort typically includes 10-12 students from all schools and degree programs.
What is the timeline of the Program?
Applications are due September 18th, 2022 and applicants will be notified of their acceptance by October 1st. The first meeting will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time in October at which point the other meetings will be scheduled. The 2023 Annual GGCI Research Summit is scheduled for February 24th.
