Global Cities @ The CALL
The Georgetown Global Cities Initiative and the Capitol Applied Learning Labs (CALL) have formed a partnership to develop a dedicated urban curriculum open to undergraduate students from all majors with interests in local politics, urban policies, city planning and community development.
“This is a natural partnership that grows out of years of collaboration,” comments Faculty Director Uwe Brandes, “We now have a dedicated opportunity for undergraduates to engage in both qualitative and quantitative urban research methods in a truly innovative pedagogical environment.”
Global Cities @ The CALL capitalizes on our location in our nation’s capital. Students combine multiple experiences together into a truly interdisciplinary course of study, including: experiential learning through an internship with a city-based organization; a seminar exploring the trends associated with global urbanization, and; a data analytics course which teaches applied geospatial research.
Global Cities students will hold a part-time internship at a relevant organization and receive academic credit through the CALL Internship Seminar, and will take both Washington, DC, Global City, and Geographic Information Systems Mapping which give them the knowledge and skills to advance urban research in their host degree program.
Global Cities @ The CALL will commence in Fall 2022 and is designed to help students add meaningful professional experience to their resume while staying on track for graduation and building up their network as young professionals living downtown in the heart of DC.
