Gabriella Gomez Mont Named Visiting Fellow for 2019-2020

The Georgetown Global Cities Initiative has named Gabriella Gomez-Mont as its second annual visiting fellow.  Gomez-Mont is the former Director of Innovation for the Municipality of Mexico City and the founder of the Laboratorio Para la Cuidad (LabCDMX) or Laboratory for the City.  In addition to recently serving as a public official, Gomez Mont has worked as a journalist, visual artist, documentary director, and creative advisor to different cities, universities and organizations.  She has received numerous international awards for her work in different fields.  She has been named a Ted Senior Fellow, MIT Director Fellow, Yale World Fellow, Institute for the Future Fellow, and World Cities Summit Young Leader.  In 2016, Fast Company magazine named her one of the 100 most creative people in the world.

In-residence at Georgetown University twice during the 2019-20 academic year, Gomez Mont will work with faculty, staff and students on the advancement of the initiative. “I am delighted that Gabriella Gomez Mont will be affiliated with the initiative this year. I can think of no practitioner whose work fuses data science, cultural creativity and civic engagement in such a unique and effective way,” said Faculty Director Uwe Brandes.

Gomez Mont's first week in residence begins on October 28, 2018 and she will return in the spring of 2020 for a second week.  Please see the events page for opportunities to meet with Gomez Mont or reach out to us directly at globalcities [at] georgetown.edu.
