Exploring Narrative in Community-based Change

On March 23, 2021, the Georgetown Global Cities Initiative and the Georgetown Humanities Initiative co-hosted the convening, “In Dialogue with Angela Glover Blackwell: Exploring Narrative in Community-based Change”.

In this session, Angela Glover Blackwell reflected on her work creating and leading PolicyLink, a national research and action institute advancing racial and economic equity by "Lifting Up What Works".  Much of the work of PolicyLink has been performed in direct engagement with local communities across the United States revealing insights into the nexus of social empowerment, policy frameworks and local leadership initiatives.

Prof. Sherry Linkon (English) and Prof. Jordan Sand (History), served as respondents and drew on their research on community-based narrative in the cities of Youngstown, Ohio and Tokyo, respectively.  The event was co-moderated by Prof. Nicoletta Pireddu (Italian) and Prof. Uwe Brandes (Urban & Regional Planning).
