Maurice Jackson

Associate professor, History and African American Studies

 

Maurice Jackson explores the Atlantic world and African American history and culture. He was the first chair of the DC Commission on African American Affairs (2013-2016). His 2017 report, “An Analysis: African American Employment, Population & Housing Trends in Washington, D.C.,” was designed to help halt the flow of African Americans out of D.C. and to improve life for those who remain. He is co-editor of DC Jazz: Stories of Jazz Music in Washington, DC.
