Dr. McFarland is an historian of U.S. Diplomacy who focuses on post-WWII U.S. foreign relations, especially U.S.-Egyptian relations in the early Cold War, the influence of history on foreign affairs and broader issues of current and historical U.S. foreign relations. He manages working groups on emerging diplomatic challenges, including the rise of global cities as a driver of evolving diplomacy practices.
