Research from the Institute of Place Management at Manchester Metropolitan University has identified the Top 25 priorities that can influence high street vitality and viability. This resource introduces the 'Place Management' priority - why it matters, and what you can do about it.

 

Join us for a workshop led by Institute of Place Management on how Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and town teams provide voices for local businesses and utilizing bottom-up, primarily community-led partnerships that elevate the role of communities in the place management process.

Steve is Professor of Place Management and a Director at the Institute of Place Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. Steve guides the Institute's work on place making and planning. He is a Trustee of the Manchester Geographical Society. Steve has also conducted academic research on lighting and public space, place and creativity, and place-making and football. Steve is currently the placemaking programme lead for the High Streets Task Force.

Nikos Ntounis

Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University and Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Place Management

Nikos Ntounis is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University and Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Place Management. He is the Managing Editor of the Journal of Place Management and Development, IPM's academic journal. His current research focuses on place management, retailing, high street vitality and viability, heritage management, and the management of squatted areas. Since 2014, he has been involved in numerous IPM projects, such as High Street UK 2020 (HSUK2020), Bringing Big Data to Small Users (BDSU), the IPM's Vital and Viable Neighbourhoods, Business Improvement Districts reviews, and the High Street Task Force.
