Urban diplomacy responds to citizen demand for a global approach to local problems, a sort of extension of citizenship beyond the nation state. The identity, the gender perspective, the climate change, as well as migration policies, mobility or the management of digital transformation have visible consequences in urban territories. New citizenship rights, new demands, new habits, new agendas emerge. Urban diplomacy impacts on the ordinary life of international relations.
