Climate change is impacting every resident of the District of Columbia and that future changes will require critical attention by the community for many decades to come. The Commission on Climate Change & Resiliency (“Commission”) is organizing a public forum to inform the Commission’s second legislatively-mandated report to the Mayor and the Council of the District of Columbia. This report is scheduled to be transmitted in October 2022.
Process to Submit a Testimonial, Presentation or Paper
Interested citizens, businesses, civic organizations, researchers and students at all levels of education in the District of Columbia wishing to speak or present at the forum should check out the conditions available in DCCCR's website.
The forum will be organized around the following thematic tracks:
Visual Representation – This track explores documentary and creative visual representation. (10 minute presentation)
Citizen Testimonials – This track embraces the oral histories of climate change as experienced as local phenomena. (10 minute presentation)
Advocacy – This track explores future measures and frameworks for place-based and community-based action. (15 minute presentation)
Academic Research – This track embraces traditional academic research on climate change whose focus is the District of Columbia. (15 minute presentation)
“Uncurated Unconference” – This track establishes an unprogrammed space for community dialogue. Note: No application is required for this track.
