SEVENTH ANNUAL GEORGETOWN GLOBAL CITIES STUDENT RESEARCH SUMMIT: CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

The Georgetown Global Cities Initiative (GGCI) calls for submission for the 7th Georgetown
Global Cities Student Research Summit.
Every year, selected Georgetown undergraduate and
graduate students are invited to present and share their research with peers, professors, and
special guests interested in interdisciplinary urban research. This year, we will invite students for
either 8-10 minute, formal PowerPoint presentations or shorter, informal poster presentations.

Presenting in the GGCI Student Research Summit: Call for Submissions.

To present in the event, you will need to be an enrolled graduate or undergraduate student in any Georgetown University school or department and submit your presentation through the online submission form. We seek published, completed, or in-progress research projects exploring interdisciplinary urban challenges.  Submissions may be grouped under the themes outlined below and may originate in class assignments, thesis projects, or external engagements.

Students must apply using the application form. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and late submissions will not be accepted. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 at 11:59pm EST.

After the submission period closes, an evaluation committee will select the most suitable works to present at the Seventh Annual Georgetown Global Cities Student Research Summit. The criteria for selection are originality, completeness, quality of the application, relevance to the summit theme, and contribution to the overall field. Selected students will receive the notification via email and will have to confirm their availability to present at the event. Students will have three weeks to work on the presentation once accepted and they will receive individual feedback and coaching on their presentations.

We invite student submissions for presentations on any urban-related topic, including these themes: urban systems, urban economics, cities and public health, social equity, housing, urban governance, climate change and urban resilience, migration, and data-driven urban development. Of particular interest are cross-cutting themes affecting global urbanization and exploring place-based and community-based studies.

The full application and assessment process will follow the timeline below:

1.    January 29, 2025: Submission deadline.

2.    February 3, 2025 : Students are notified.

3.   February 21, 2025: Georgetown Global Cities Student Research Summit.
